Preamble:
The Student Grievance Redressal Cell was constituted to probe into the student grievances. The Student Grievance Redressal Cell attempts to address genuine problems and complaints of students whatever be the nature of the problem.
The following directions of UGC, AICTE and Anna University the Grievances Redressal Cell is established in order to deal with the individual grievances related to students and to ensure the redressal of grievances in 15 working days. The online Student Grievance Redressal mechanism can be able to receive and dispose of the grievances online. The office notice board with the SGRC committee members list, contact numbers and email-ids of members indicating the details of the online Grievance Redressal mechanism i.e. URL of the online Student Grievance Redressal Portal to ensure publicity/awareness of the establishment of Student Grievance Redressal mechanism.
Objectives:
To provide a platform for addressing complaints and issues related to discrimination and difficulties among individuals.
The students approach the Cell to voice their grievances regarding academic and non-academic matters. The cell redresses the grievances at individual and class level and grievances of common interest. Students are encouraged to use the suggestion box placed on the campus to express constructive suggestions and grievances.
The SGRC Committee will include the following members:
- A Professor – Chairperson.
- Four Professor/ Senior Faculty members of the Institution as Members.
- A representative from among students to be nominated on academic merit/excellence in sports performance in co-curricular activities – Special Invitee.
- Atleast one member or the Chairperson shall be a women and atleast one member or the Chairperson shall from SC/ST/OBC category.
- The term of the Chairperson and members shall be for a period of two years.
- The term of the special invitee shall be one year.
- The quorum for the meeting including the Chairperson, but excluding the special invitee, shall be three.
- In considering the grievances before it, the SGRC shall follow principles of natural justice.
- The SGRC shall send its report with recommendations, if any, to the competent authority of the institution concerned and a copy thereof to the aggrieved student, preferably within a period of 15 working days from the date of receipt of the complaint.
- Any student aggrieved by the decision of the students Grievance Redressal Committee may prefer an appeal to the Ombudsperson, within a period of fifteen days from the date if the receipt of such decision.
Functions and Responsibilities of the Committee:
The functions and responsibilities of the SGRC Committee encompass:
Suggestion Boxes are provided in every building in the college (including the Library and Hostels) for the students to air their grievances. Complaints dropped in the ‘Suggestion Box’ by students and oral complaints are also redressed. All complaints are scrutinized by the management and the SGRC.
Confidentiality Protocol:
The GRC Committee will uphold strict confidentiality regarding all grievances received and investigations conducted.
Constitutional Review:
The constitution of the SGRC Committee will undergo an annual review to ensure its continued relevance and efficacy.
