B.E (Electrical & Electronics Engineering)

The department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering offers an undergraduate program, B.E (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) and a post graduate program in Power Electronics and Drives. Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a continuously evolving subject. As technology has advanced, so have the challenges facing the modern engineer. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which is the application of the basic principles of electricity and electronics to develop machineries, semiconductor devices and control systems, has significantly paved way towards a sustainable lifestyle. Furthermost, the ever growing demand for energy and the integration of utilities into national grids brings in complexities that today's engineer should be equipped to meet

About the department

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Christian College of Engineering and Technology was established in the year 2005. The B.E (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) Program was duly approved by the AICTE and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. 5 batches of students have been graduated so far.

The department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is also embedded with fully functioning labs for electrical machines and power electronics. The department also has dedicated laboratories for control systems, Engineering Practices with state-of-art equipment. The department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, with the support of the management has collaborative arrangements with industries and training facilities. All the students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular, inter-department and co-curricular activities besides maintain the regular academic schedule.

The department has 15 teaching Faculty, maintaining 1:15 Staff: Student ratio. In the team, there are 5 Ph.D (pursuing), 10 M.Techs. The faculty have sound knowledge in emerging areas like embedded systems, power electronics applications in power systems. The breadth and depth of the research interests of the academic staff ensures a high standard of lecture courses and provides excellent opportunities for challenging and stimulating final year projects. Individual lecturers supplement their delivery using blackboards, overhead projectors and video projection.

The laboratories are upgraded regularly towards world class research and consultation activities. The entire faculty are motivated to adopt the latest techniques in teaching and learning process. More than 75% of the students are encouraged for attending in-plant training for 3 to 4 weeks. The students are also encouraged to present papers in students’ paper contests.
